Privacy, in plain words
Polyglot is operated by Dylan de Heer Holding B.V. in the Netherlands. This notice covers the app and this website. We determine the purposes of website operations and support communications; you remain responsible for the recordings and personal data you choose to process locally.
Your recordings stay on your Mac
Transcription, translation and video enhancement run locally. We do not receive your media, transcripts, translations or local projects through those processing features. The app has no account system, advertising analytics or cloud inference. Local projects, models and diagnostics are stored on your device. Keep appropriate backups and protect access to your Mac.
Local diagnostics record processing progress and errors. Do not send recordings, transcripts or private diagnostic files to support unless needed and you are authorized to share them.
When Polyglot connects
Initial model downloads contact the model hosting providers. A video-link import contacts the video provider you request. Opening documentation or policy links contacts the relevant website. Those providers receive ordinary network information, including your IP address, according to their own terms and privacy notices.
Signed app updates and release downloads are served from Supabase. Update checks request release information; they do not upload recordings or transcripts. Sparkle system-profile reporting is disabled. Automatic checking is user-controlled. Website pages are hosted on Vercel.
Website and support information
Hosting and delivery services process request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, user agents and error information to deliver the site, downloads and updates, and to secure their services. We do not add advertising trackers. Limited product usage analytics are on by default. You can turn them off through Analytics preferences in the website footer or app Settings.
If you contact us, we use the contact details and information you provide to respond and resolve the request. Please share only information relevant to the issue. We do not sell your personal data.
Usage analytics and your choice
PostHog EU helps us understand which website pages lead to downloads and whether app workflows succeed. Website events include published page paths, broad referral categories, download clicks and guide engagement. App events include launches, model setup, subtitle creation, translation, exports and success, failure or cancellation outcomes. Counts are bucketed and processing times rounded.
We do not send recordings, transcripts, translations, filenames, file paths, imported video URLs, clipboard contents or raw error messages. Session replay, automatic interaction capture and advertising tracking are disabled. IP anonymization is enabled and location enrichment disabled. PostHog receives ordinary connection information while handling requests.
Analytics are enabled by default unless you have previously turned them off. Random identifiers are stored while analytics are enabled. Website and app identifiers are separate and are not joined. This is pseudonymous usage data, not necessarily anonymous data. No name, email or account is attached. The website uses local storage; the app uses local preferences.
Turn analytics off through Analytics preferences in the website footer or Share usage analytics in app Settings. Core features are unaffected. Turning analytics off stops new collection and removes the local identifier; requests already delivered are not automatically erased. Choices apply to that browser or Mac. We respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track on the website. Contact us about access or deletion requests. Retention follows the applicable PostHog project and service terms; we do not promise an unconfigured fixed deletion period.
Purposes, legal bases and retention
We rely on legitimate interests in providing a functioning, secure website and download service, and in responding to general inquiries. Where a request concerns an agreement with you, processing may be necessary to perform it. We process information where required to meet legal obligations. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving product usability and reliability for limited usage analytics. You can object by turning analytics off. We limit collection to the product events described above, without advertising, cross-service identity matching or user content. These purposes do not require us to collect your local recordings.
Support information is retained while needed to resolve the request and for relevant legal obligations or claims, then deleted or minimized. Operational log retention is controlled by the applicable hosting service and configuration; we have not established a single fixed retention period across providers. We review the need for retained information rather than keeping it indefinitely.
Service providers and international processing
Vercel and Supabase provide hosting and delivery infrastructure. PostHog processes optional analytics in its EU cloud. The release storage project is configured in Frankfurt; that location does not mean every provider operation or support activity takes place only in Germany. Where processing involves international transfers, applicable provider agreements and transfer safeguards must be considered.

Your choices and rights
You can delete local projects and downloaded models on your Mac. Deleting a project does not delete its original recording or previously exported files. Local files are under your control; we cannot retrieve or erase copies that were never sent to us.
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data we hold, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you solely through automated profiling.
We respond to rights requests without undue delay and normally within one month. Where the GDPR permits an extension, we explain it within that month. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. Contact dylandeheer@gmail.com.
You may complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority or your competent local supervisory authority.
Changes
We update this notice when the product or our processing changes. The date above reflects a substantive policy update. New trackers, hosted media processing or accounts would require a fresh assessment and notice before introduction.
