Product demo subtitles that get the details right.

Subtitle the demo your audience will see

A product demo often changes late: a shorter introduction, a replaced screen capture or a new closing message. Make subtitles from the finished export, not an earlier voiceover recording. Keep the product release and video edit version with the source file so your website, sales team and launch assets all use the same explanation.

Import that recording into Polyglot and generate timed source-language text locally on your Mac. Review the draft alongside the video. If the speaker names a feature before the interface shows it, check that the resulting subtitle remains understandable in context. Polyglot preserves cue timing; detailed timing changes belong in a compatible finishing editor.

Treat product names as part of the interface

Use the released interface as your spelling reference. A recognition model may turn a product name into a common word, split an acronym or miss a keyboard modifier. Correct the actual spoken words without silently adding capabilities the speaker did not describe. A subtitle is part of the demo, not extra space for a marketing claim.

For example, “share this workspace” and “share your entire account” describe very different actions. Review pronouns, limits, quantities and negations with the same care as brand names. Keep an approved terminology sheet for the release, then check translations against it. A fluent reviewer should confirm that translated benefit statements keep the original scope.

Review the silent viewing experience

Watch once with the sound muted, following both the subtitles and the cursor. Notice moments where the viewer must read a long sentence while a menu opens. Shorten wording only when its meaning stays intact. If cues need different boundaries or placement, finish them in an appropriate subtitle or video editor rather than assuming text edits alone solve the problem.

SRT contains timed text, not the complete design of a social video. Polyglot does not burn animated captions into the picture. For a player with selectable captions, attach the SRT track. For permanently visible captions in an exported promotional clip, use a separate video editor and inspect the final render. These are different delivery choices.

Hand off a complete release package

Export the reviewed languages and name each file to match the final demo, such as demo-v2-4-edit03.en.srt. Include a short handoff note recording the product version, approved language and reviewer. Keep the original project so a corrected feature name can be updated without rebuilding the entire subtitle draft.

Test the published player, not just the local file. Check that captions can be selected, special characters display correctly and the last cue still matches the closing shot. When the demo changes, replace its associated subtitle tracks in the same release task. Keep the superseded set in your working archive instead of accidentally attaching it to the new video.
