Choose what needs to change

Open Enhance video and use the compression and resolution controls. Keep AI enhancement off when your goal is simply a smaller export. Reducing resolution can help when the original is larger than your audience needs.

02

Balance quality and size

H.264 and HEVC exports have different compatibility and compression trade-offs. Use a short preview to inspect faces, movement and fine text. An export can also become larger, depending on the source and selected settings; compare actual files instead of assuming a saving.

03

Export and check the destination

Save a new SDR MP4, check its size in Finder, and play it in the intended app. Polyglot does not target an exact megabyte limit or guarantee that a file will fit an email or messaging-service attachment limit.

Before you begin.

Can I compress an MP4 on Mac?

Yes, for video that macOS can decode. Open it in Enhance video, adjust compression or resolution and export a new MP4.

Will it always make the file smaller?

No. The result depends on source encoding, output codec, resolution and quality. Check the exported file size and compare the visible quality.

Does enhancement use my free subtitle allowance?

The file allowance covers media transcription and SRT translation. Existing video enhancement and compression remain available separately.
