Keep approval attached to the words

A customer testimonial can change meaning through a small omission. Polyglot can transcribe an authorized interview excerpt locally on Mac, help you review its timed text and export subtitles. Before publishing, keep an approval record for the exact excerpt, language and campaign where the customer’s words will appear.

Get permission for the recording, name, role, company references and planned distribution. Confirm who can approve the finished material and whether approval covers translations and shorter versions. A locally stored transcript does not grant permission to publish it. Check music, other people and confidential information in the picture as well as the speech.

Make a source-to-cut claim record

For each excerpt, retain the source-recording time, final-video time, complete spoken claim and any qualification that limits it. A question can supply essential context: “for this one pilot” may qualify the answer even when it is not repeated. Review the cut in that context before writing an attractive headline.

The illustrative example below is invented. It demonstrates a missing qualifier, not a real customer result or a claim about Polyglot.

Fictional approval record
Source: interview-A / 08:12
Cut: story-v03 / 00:18

Heard: “For our pilot team,
it saved about an hour.”

Reject subtitle:
“It saves every team an
hour.”

Approval covers this cut
and this language only.

Preserve the claim’s limits

Check words such as “about”, “sometimes”, “in our trial” and “for my work”. Do not broaden a personal experience into a result for all customers. A translation must preserve uncertainty, timeframe and the product version being discussed. A number that is spelled correctly can still be misleading if its scope disappears.

UK ASA/CAP guidance warns against misleading edits and testimonials that do not relate to the advertised product. Treat that as jurisdiction-specific guidance, not a complete global compliance checklist. Have the campaign owner assess the applicable rules and any required disclosures. Subtitle preparation does not verify an endorsement or substantiate its underlying claim.

When the narrator misspeaks, resolve the edit with the customer and campaign owner. Do not silently replace what was said with a stronger or tidier claim. Polyglot has no customer-consent workflow, claim verification or automatic disclosure placement. Keep those decisions in a separate approval record.

Approve the delivered language and placement

Ask a competent reviewer to check every translated excerpt against the source, then obtain the required approval for that language. Keep a versioned copy of the approved text and track. Approval of the English interview does not automatically prove that a translated advertisement preserves its meaning.

Load the final video and subtitles in the destination player. Watch the opening question or context, the claim and any qualification together. Check lower-third names, on-screen disclosures and captions at mobile size so none obscures the others. Test each short cut separately; the full-length file does not necessarily fit a promotional excerpt.

Hand over the exact video revision, subtitle files, quote record and approval status. Hold any excerpt whose scope or permission remains unresolved. Use an external video editor if the destination requires embedded captions; Polyglot exports separate files and does not publish or certify advertisements.
