Localize training subtitles from the approved SRT.

Reuse the reviewed training script

When a training video already has approved subtitles, the next task is to adapt that text for another audience. Use the existing SRT so reviewers can work from the same cue boundaries and the same version of the instructions. Keep the approved source outside the working project, together with the video version it belongs to.

Check names of internal tools, interface labels and procedural steps before translating. A subtitle correction can be easier to review than a new transcription, but it still needs an owner who understands the material. Confirm which language tracks are needed and who will review each one; the app does not supply an approval or collaboration system.

Translate locally into selected languages

Open Translate SRT in Polyglot, choose the subtitle file and select one or more languages. The local translation model processes the text on your Mac after its initial download. You do not need the video to translate, although attaching it later can help check whether subtitles match the instruction visible on screen.

Polyglot preserves the original cue numbering, order and timing. It saves the imported source and translation progress in a local project. This avoids uploading subtitle content for inference, but it does not replace your organization’s policies for device access, backups, sharing or handling confidential training material.

Check instructions before distributing them

Review action verbs, numbers, warnings and negations carefully. A literal translation of a button label may confuse someone using an interface that keeps its original language. Decide which labels should remain as displayed and which explanatory phrases should be translated. Apply that choice consistently across the course or training series.

The editor shows each translated cue with its original text for comparison. If a source instruction changes, the associated completed translations are marked for review. You can keep a reviewed line or explicitly refresh it; other manual edits are preserved. For material with safety or compliance implications, use the organization’s established specialist review process.

Publish the right track with the right recording

Export each completed language as a UTF-8 SRT or export all completed tracks into a new folder. Use clear version and language names in your handoff. Check the result in the actual learning platform or video player, including whether viewers can select the intended language and read the longest instruction in time.

This feature preserves timestamps and exports separate subtitle files. It does not automatically retime long translations, create dubbed audio or embed styled captions in the picture. Media transcription and SRT translation share the three-file free allowance. A training SRT counts when its first complete translation is saved; adding more languages for that file does not use another slot.
